Nice, but it's GIMP, I use photoshop ^_^, so I'll post here how I do it in PhotoShop :D:

First:
The DDS plugin for photoshop: Click
&nd a thumbnail viewer, so you don't have to guess which file is which: Click

Okay, let's start photoshop.
always remember to make a back-up first!
If u forgot it there's still hope > Click (By ^Corleone^)
I opened the 120 Trojan Male Armor (Client>c3>texture>003132200.dds)
First you will have this:

Duplicate the background layer, now you should have:
Background copy
Background
Next hide the normal background layer (click on the eye).
Now take the polygonal lasso tool

Cut everything which is part of the body out
to do this, make a selection with the polygonal lasso tool, and when u have that, click delete on your keyboard, this field should now be transparant.
It should look like this now:

Now we can start coloring!
You can use the polygonal lasso tool if you want different colors, i just directly used Hue/Saturation (CTRL+U or Image>Adjustments>Hue/Saturation)
Mine looks like this now:

Now unhide the natural background layer, also this time click on the eye, now you should see it again, and it should look like this:

Okay, now we're done!
BUT, WHEN YOU SAVE, BE SURE YOU SET IT ON:
DXT3 ARGB 8 bpp | explicit alpha
Done! and then this is how it looks ingame:

EDIT:
If anyone wants to have this edit, here it is!
